Tips for staying healthy this winter

Dear Families,

Watching the weather is just a part of the job for child care providers. I now have a weather index chart from the National Weather Service to help in determining when

it is best to have recess inside. Just a reminder that in the winter months please pack clothing, boots and hoods/hats/ muffs that provide the best coverage.

H1N1 Hotline

We will give you updates with any new information on the H1N1 vaccine as it

becomes available. I was told by the local health department and the JC Board of Education

nurses that over 250,000 doses of H1N1 flumist and H1N1 vaccines have been ordered.

They are hoping to get their full order in by October or November. For now, we are doing

everything we can to continue to keep our school functioning as usual. Thank you so much

for all your support. Here are a few more things you can do to help.

  • Wash hands often with soap and water

  • No sharing personal items

  • Keep sick children home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone

  • Do not send children if they are sick

for more information, go to NEA's health Information Network at www.neahin.org or NJLINCS Health Alert Network toll-free public information hotline 9A-5P M-F

beginning today October 6th.

Our lunch plan is in place but just as a reminder please, remember to pack the students snacks for morning and afternoon. Eating a little of each food group every day is very important to keep the students digestive system healthy and active. (excluding allergies) Grains Vegetables Fruits Fat and oils Milk/Dairy Meat, beans, fish, nuts.

Always know that my door is open to any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better.

Best Regards,

Peggy Weiss, School Nurse
